Edward E. Taravella, CCIM, CPA President TARACORP LC Edward Taravella is the President of TARACORP, a commercial real estate investment, development and brokerage firm specializing in land and residential subdivisions. TARACORP LC was formed in 1995 as an underwriter and sponsor of single-family residential development investments and has been involved in the development of numerous single-family residential communities encompassing over 1,200 single-family lots. Additionally, Mr. Taravella has brokered over 3,300 residential lots and over 24,000 acres of land to builders, developers and investors since 1989. TARACORP was named the Greater Houston Builders Association "Developer of the Year" for 2005. Mr. Taravella has been an active member of the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) since 1991 and currently serves as the Chairman of its Developer's Council and is a member of the Board of Directors. Prior to this, he was the Chairman of its Government Affairs Committee and is currently a trustee of its political action committee HOME-PAC. Mr. Taravella served as President of the Houston Real Estate Council (HREC), an industry advocacy organization created to address public policies and regulatory issues affecting the real estate investment and development community in the Greater Houston area. He is also a trustee of its political action committee REAL-PAC. Mr. Taravella is a recent past President of the Houston/Gulf Coast Chapter of CCIM, a highly regarded commercial real estate affiliate of the National Association of Realtors. As President, Mr. Taravella won the prestigious President's Cup award which recognizes the most outstanding CCIM chapter worldwide. He is also a member of the Land Partners National Network, which facilitates the marketing and brokerage of land worldwide among CCIM members. Through his positions with the Houston Real Estate Council and the Greater Houston Builders Association, Mr. Taravella has been appointed to numerous city and county committees and task forces, including the Development Impacts Committee, the Long Range Planning Committee and the Mixed Use/Transit Oriented Development Committee of the Houston Planning Commission, the Low Impact Development (LID) task force, the Harris County Landscaping and Monumentation Sub-Committee task force and the City of Houston's (COH) Flooding & Drainage Issues Committee Stakeholders Advisory Group. Mr. Taravella also serves as President of the Builders’ Community Development Corporation which in conjunction with the COH is building a subsidized, affordable housing community named Leland Woods, consisting of 373 single family homes in near northeast Houston. He is also President of Galveston County MUD #51. Mr. Taravella is also a Trustee of the Houston Realty Breakfast Club and an active member of the Urban Land Institute. Mr. Taravella has earned the professional designations of certified public accountant (CPA) and certified commercial investment member (CCIM). His previous experience includes positions with a national public accounting firm, a large lending institution and a prominent international commercial real estate developer. Mr. Taravella received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Wichita State University. He has been a resident of Houston since 1981 and is a licensed Texas real estate broker.
